Cookie policy.

Two categories of cookies. Essential ones run the site and are not optional under GDPR. Analytics ones help me see which writing gets read, and they only run if you accept them.

What a cookie is, quickly.

A cookie is a small piece of data a website stores in your browser. Most cookies are harmless and necessary; some are used to track you across sites and build advertising profiles. This site does not use the second kind.

On your first visit you see a banner at the bottom of the screen with two options:

  • Accept all, enables both essential cookies and the optional analytics cookies described below.
  • Reject optional, keeps the site working but disables the analytics layer.

Your choice is stored in your browser (no server-side record is created) and can be changed any time by clicking Cookie preferences in the site footer.

What is set, and when.

This site uses Google Consent Mode v2 with the default set to denied for analytics, ads, ad personalization, and ad user data. That means until you click "Accept all", no Google Analytics cookies are set on your browser and no tracking events are sent.

If you click "Reject optional" we keep that denied state and never grant it again unless you re-open the banner and change your mind.

Third-party content.

Two external services are loaded for design reasons:

  • Google Fonts (Newsreader, Hanken Grotesk, Space Mono). Standard HTTPS request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. Google receives your IP as part of the normal request. No cookies are set by the font request itself.
  • Google Analytics 4, loaded only after you click "Accept all". See details above.

Change your mind.

You can open the consent banner again at any time using the Cookie preferences link in the footer, or by clearing the fafb-consent-v1 entry from your browser storage.

Questions.

Anything cookie- or privacy-related goes to anze@failagainfailbetter.com. For everything else there is the contact page. The full privacy policy covers data handling beyond cookies.

No dark patterns. No "manage 800 partners" nonsense. Two buttons, two categories, that's it.
